Happy New Year!

Resolutions

Last night was a blast! We hosted a lil party with some friends for some Pre – 2010 fun!

We started the night with some snacks, and an “over decorated” table. Although, the colors kept us awake hence the brightness :) .

We prepared some shrimp cocktails,

Some couscous, and lentils for us “wanna be vegans :P

Warm stoneground bread, from loafers :) . I would have got some holiday bread, but they ran out! They make the best whole wheat holiday bread, nough said.

Plus our main dish, lobsters! Sorry larry, but tonights a tradition!

We stayed up until around 1:30am, 2010! Watching the craziness of the USA. Looked like a pretty wild night, even from a TV viewpoint. Someday, we will make Time Square!

Aside from all that, have you made some New Years Resolutions? I have!

  • Become smarter, and listen to my body more often.
  • Touch up my nutrition, no ones perfect!
  • Take yoga more often.
  • Work on being a “well rounded” athlete, and train with friends this spring for triathlons!

Happy New Year!

Well… not yet, about 6 hours, but hey! We made it! Todays breakfast was the oh so usual, but oh so good yogurt!

As it was time to shovel the drive way, so we could leave for the gym. Wow! how nice, working out before working out! Anyways I shoveled pretty quick, mostly because I’m not one for messing around! Once everything was shoveled, I worked up an appetite, and I wanted a lil something before todays workout.

So, I chowed down a vitatop. I’m not going to lie they are really good! And not bad for you at all!]

Todays workout:

Weight Lifting = 16 exercises, 3 reps per exercise
Boxing = 10mins, 1min uppercuts, 10sec recovery
Rowing Machine = 30mins “yes, my ass hurts…”

After working out I refueled with PB& Honey toast, with a fresh apple. Nom Nom Nom!

I also used my leftover ingredients from yesterdays protein bars, and made some granola! Protein bars, and granola party tonight!

Ever try rowing? A cross trainer for running, its like running with your arms! After 10mins your traps are killing you! If you have a rowing machine in your gym, give it a try. It burns so good!

New Years Treats

Bet you cant guess what I was busy doing this Wednesday morning?!

If you guessed protein bars, your right!

Baked a coffee cake batch for my friends on New Years!

On the other side of things, we bought a slightly “unhealthier” treat to. New Years pretzel!? A giant pretzel! Got from Giant Eagles bakery for only $4.00!

Lunch was a tofu wrap, with a jumbo organic mango, so so good. Twas very juicy.

Plus, about half an iced tea, the other half I drank while walking around shopping today. Let me tell you, shopping around the holidays is the most crazyest thing anyone can do. Seriously…

After our, eh lets say 5 hour shopping spree :) . I had a veggie sandwich from loafers with…

A bowl of lentils.

Sorry for such a quick post today, the holidays are so busy for me and my family its amazing. I hope your holidays well, happy new years!

Icy Tea

Sunrise Granola for a post workout snack. Well deserved after today workout. Try this superset 8 slow reps, with 17 fast right after, works both slow, and fast twitch muscle fibers.

It snowed like crazy last night! However the roads were pretty clear, so me and mom went shopping. We stopped at loafers bread to buy tonights dinner. It was lunch time so I got a salad with this sweet tea :) .

The night wasn’t very eventful, setup the table for new years, and relaxed. Loafers was great, I had the turkey sandwich on sunflower bread. Om Nom Nom!

Sunrise Granola

New recipe, one which calls for coffee!

A morning granola perfect for before or after morning workouts.

  • 2 1/2 cups organic rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup brown rice syrup
  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup grain sweetened chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup flax seed
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
  • 1/4 cup evaporated cane juice
  • 1/4 cup dark roast coffee
  • 1tsp pure vanilla extract
  1. Mix everything in a mixing bowl
  2. Pour mixture into 9×9 cooking pan
  3. Spread evenly, and press mixture down firmly
  4. Bake 325 F for 20mins
  5. Let cool for 30-40mins
  6. crumble up!

325 F for 20mins

Let dry, and crumble!

U cant go wrong with berries…

How do you like your coffee? Dark, Sweet? With some skim like my dark roast above? Yum! A nice hot drink before Saturdays spinning class.

Spinning went well. It makes me sweat and think like crazy. I want to know the name of about 20 songs but I just cant find them. They are really upbeat and good workout songs!? Anyways, after class I munched on a Present Glo Bar. Would be really good with a pumpkin spice latte, but that kinda kills the healthy factor aye?

Ive been doing lots of biking lately. Mostly to save my knees, because being 15 and running close to 20-25 miles per week can be bad. I still have 5, or 7 so years until my peek!

A fruity assortment with some peanut butter! You cant go wrong with berries, and oranges.

Later on we went to the north hills to Nordstroms to exchange Christmas gifts. As we drove around the parking lot we all though, what a mistake. However we did find a spot “thank god”. What a cool store, they have so much stuff, and good stuff. What department store has UGG boots, certainly not Macy’s. After finishing up shopping we went to dinner. Which was very good but a tad to much meat. I had tuna with some side veggies, which was covered in bacon, who puts bacon on veggies! common ppl lol! Anyways we went to a party later that night, I didn’t take any pictures because I didn’t want people thinking Im a creep… :)
